San Qing

In Part 2 of this episode, we welcome Martin Pettersson, buddhist monk as he goes even more in depth into his experiences, teachings and development from his time spent as a practicing monk.

Martin's journey began with a simple belief: success, love, and a great career were the keys to happiness. Despite achieving great success in sales and finding love in relationships, Martin still found something was always missing. There was always something else to achieve or gain.

After the sudden passing of his grandmother, Martin delved into the life of a Buddhist monk, immersing himself in meditation practices across Asia and Europe. This pursuit wasn't about religion for Martin; it was about comprehending his mind and discovering why he could never be fulfilled and always wanted more or something else.

Martin's 6-year meditation journey led him through various traditions, from intensive Vipassana retreats to exploring mindfulness in different settings. His determination led to a crucial insight: actual change comes not from altering external circumstances or adopting specific beliefs but from addressing the internal distortions between reality and one's desires. Martin discovered that by observing and letting go of these internal conflicts, a profound peace and understanding emerged, transforming his approach to life and meditation.

His practice evolved into what he calls 'Distortion Meditation,' which focuses on the friction between expectations and reality. This approach transcends religious boundaries, highlighting a universal process of inner reconciliation. Martin's journey illustrates the power of meditation as a practice and a way of life, embracing the enjoyable nature of experiencing this moment of being alive with all its imperfections. Now, he shares his insights, hoping to inspire others to explore their inner landscapes and find peace and joy within themselves.
